Showing their mettle in the fire and nettles

MORE than 2,500 competitors from across Britain and beyond battled through muddy water, fire and 7ft nettles to conquer what is billed as the country’s toughest assault course.
The Nettle Warrior event at Perton, near Wolverhampton, attracted entrants from around the world, including a man from Nepal and other contestants from California, Belgium, Germany, and Azerbaijan.
Many of those attacking the eight-mile course were wearing fancy dress, while one man tackled the nettles wearing just a thong.
Organiser Billy Wilson believes the annual event is so popular because they allow people to push themselves to the limit and confront their fears.
