THE lasting legacy of Jackie O has hugely inflated the value of her fake pearl necklace.
Auctioneers believe the jewellery, worth hundreds of euro, is likely to sell for EUR41,806 because Jackie wore it when she was President John F Kennedy’s wife.
Jackie was considered to be American royalty and her style in the early 60s was massively influential.
Jean Ghika, jewellery expert at Bonhams which is selling the necklace, said: “The triple-strand necklace on its own would be worth at most in the very low hundreds. It’s fair to say that 99.9% of the value is because they belonged to Jackie Kennedy.”
